Xda-Developers | Telegram v5.2 brings global permissions for groups and undo deleting chats
Telegram is one of the most popular messaging services on almost any platform. Just on Android alone, it boasts over 100 million users, with an average rating of 4.4 on the Google Play Store. Originally developed in Russia, I've seen Telegram being used in many of the European countries. The team behind the service is very committed to updating the app quite regularly. Just now, it has received an update to version 5.2, adding loads of features which are mainly focused on helping the moderators of groups. Let's dive in a little bit.
Global permissions for groups
If you've ever been annoyed by certain types of content in the group but couldn't moderate because of the lack of manpower, you now can. Starting today, you will be able to control exactly what type of content your group members will be able to send. You can block GIFs, stickers, links, polls, media, and even messages. You can head to the settings of your group (after updating the app, obviously) and change all the permissions you want.
20,000 members and simpler groups
Originally, you were only able to have up to 10,000 people in a group. Starting with version 5.2, you can have 20,000 members in a group. Also, remember when there were two types of groups? One super and the other normal. Those are gone now. Making a group public now takes just a few taps, as well as making its history persistent.
Undo deleted chats
If you've ever deleted a chat accidentally on Telegram, you can now be a little bit more secure. Telegram will now let you undo your action about deleting a chat or clearing the history within 5 seconds. A pop-up will appear on the bottom of the screen. You can either tap on 'undo' or ignore it to erase the chat completely.
These are some of the most notable features from this update. There are also minor changes like a feature to sort contacts, change download animations, and more. You can check them out in the blog post by Telegram itself, which is linked at the end of the article. If you want to download the application, you can do so from the Play Store listing below.
